I wandered lonely as a cloud That floated on valleys and cities Sometimes I liked the green Sometimes the routine The moment I saw the crowd I craved for calmness, oh so witty! Though travel has made me lose myself in the right direction, it has also made my life a beautiful contradiction. Travel lifts me up. This picture taken on the streets of Chiang Mai brings back fond memories. Memories of times when I lost my soul and let it flow with the course of my destiny. Sometimes it's not easy to give words to one's thoughts. One such moment is now, when this song is more meaningful than I can ever be. I don't know where I am going but I am on my way ! Travellers dream of travel and travel to dream because there is so much universe and so little time. We all have pinned our favourites in our minds and so have I. I have been bonkers about space from even longer than I can remember. It's my💡at the end of the tunnel. After covering all that the Earth has to offer I would one day like to set my foot 🚀 on the unchartered celestial bodies of space. This is a picture of the Birla Planetarium in Calcutta (one of my favourite hangout place in my city). Here, I am checking how much I shall weigh on the nearby (rather not so near) rocks in our ☀ system. Travel has gifted me eyes ! There were times when I have been blind to my own city, like having sight but no vision and there are times when I have felt overflown with all that it has to offer. Now is one such time. I realize how ignorant I have been to it and it's Heritage beauties which have their own special stories to tell. Just as I promised, am back with more on this stunning piece of architecture in my homecity - 'Victoria Memorial' ! The black bronze statue atop the dome is a rotating statue called the 'Angel of Victory'. It is 16 ft high and weighs around three thousand kilograms. It carries a bugle to its lips which acts as a weathervane ( tells you the direction of the blowing wind ). It is installed on a shaft which has a layer of mercury under it making it lightning proof. What amazes me is not just the exquisite designs or the intense drama in these statues but the far sightedness architects had in those times. Their art though speaks of their time but aims for timelessness. Of late, I am being a tourist in my own city and I can't stop comparing Victoria Memorial's resonating similarity with it's rival Taj Mahal. This monument is Calcutta's own fairy tale ! The city of Calcutta was blessed with this historical heritage during the British rule over India. Before this spectacular monument was erected, on this particular land was the famous correctional facility called the Presidency Jail. But God's plan has always been more powerful than ours. After the death of 👑 Victoria in 1901, Lord Curzon the then Viceroy proposed the erection of a grand monument commemorating Queen Victoria. Hence, the jail building had to be demolished to pay tribute to the Empress. This memorial was then built using Makrana marble with a blend of both European and Mughal (dome) style. What's hidden in this picture is the 'Angel of Victory' on top of the dome which is a black bronze rotating fairy statue with a bugle. Standing high in the shining sun it is the essence of this stunning structure. In us the tiger sniffs the rose 🌹 Have you ever thought who is more cunning on earth - humans or animals? Animals never kill for sports (but we do) and if they could earn/buy food they would never resort to killing (but we do) . Still, why is it that the phrase 'being human' is always associated with a good soul while 'being an animal' with a ruiner ? Human-ity is a thing while Animal-ity was never devised by us. Doesn't it make us hypocrites and self-seeking ? This picture was taken outside Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai. This artistic picture of the tiger with these skin deep patterned stripes and fiery eyes is a masterpiece. But did you notice the torn part? This strikes me that animals are actually God's masterpiece and we humans have been tearing them apart for our needs ever since we know them. I know not about how authentic this place is in maintaining the well being of these mighty animals but one thing I know for sure is that I wouldn't like to be caged. The more I travel the more I realize how necessary it is for humans and animals to move around. Are you a piece of layered chocolate cake? You're so much more than just a pretty face. You're worth finding, knowing and loving. You're layers and layers of colourful secrets buried under one another with love in the centre of it all. She would be an aesthete she decided, and travel somewhere beautiful and far. Sitting in a quaint little cafe. Eating without fear their local stews and sincerely offered produce. Learning from the French and the Italians with the world music being played. Trying new scales on her piano. Reading her favourite book. Occassionaly spinning the globe and unfolding the map, deciding a place to go. She is lost in her thoughts. When travelling via Ferrari is too mainstream opt for a more colourful option 😉 There are plenty of ways to explore the city of Bangkok. It's transportation network is as diverse and trendy as its residents are. Though BTS is a great way here to cut long distances short, tuk-tuks are better for feeling the energy of the city. This one in particular is a symbol of Thai artistry. I found it parked on the pavement. Too bad couldn't ride it but made up for the loss by riding on the less colourful ones. I bet in Bangkok if BTS is a carousel, tuk - tuks are roller coasters. I love Bangkok! The mad traffic, the ways of driving, the ways of putting up buildings, the environmental management arrangements, the frantic shoppers and the innumerable shopping malls. This is our picture from the "Times Square" mall in Sukhumwit. We were on a walkway which leads you directly from the sky train to the mall. Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave but not our hearts. For us one such home away from home is in Pai. Cruising 762 mountainous curves we reached this beautiful, hippy-like town which brought us face to face with the raw beauty of northern Thailand. And the apple of my pie was living in this centrally located wonderful village accommodation, Pai Village and Boutique Resort. Here I am standing between two most sweetest people I met there 'Add' and 'Gift'. If you ever happen to be in Pai do check this place out. You will be blown away by their hospitality. Having heard hundreds of stories about the Tiger Kingdom and it's ill treated tigers, I wanted to have a first hand experience. We went to meet the volunteers there who have crossed oceans to be around these animals. The tigers there have been petted by strangers all their lives which had perhaps made them more acceptable of humans than their wild counterparts. Strangely they were more playful than wild. Before entering the cage of this three months old tiger, I was asked to open my shoes and sanitize my hands. I was also warned to not touch it's face or front paws or make any sudden movements in any situation. It was nerve wrecking initially but when I sat there stroking it's fur I realized how all our hearts understand the language of love ! He was more like me patient but short tempered, calm but rebellious and fearsome but affectionate.
